Should I Abort the Baby?

Good evening Mummy, ma my heart is so heavy and am so sad. I met a man around January and he asked me to be in a relationship with him.

After some months, we went for an all round  medical test which included HIV status. After we found out that we both are negative, we started having sex without protection.

He always ask me if I am pregnant and that he wants a baby. Three months later, I got pregnant. As I am writing this message to you, I am six weeks and two days pregnant.

Mummy the problem now is that the guy says he wants the baby but he doesn't want to get married soon, he said he doesn't want to hurry things. I just told my mum about my pregnancy news today, and she didn't respond in a friendly way. I am thinking of aborting the baby.

Mummy, please advice me on what to do, cos am confused. My whole world is coming down on me.. Thank you ma.

I understand your worries and fears but you don't need to let the opinion of others discourage your heart. 

From your mail, you agreed to give him a baby and consented to mutual sexual intimacy with him. 

Congratulations on your pregnancy, I don't think that your baby deserves to be punished for what you willingly accepted to do because you love him. 

Remember that abortion may endanger your life, or destroy your womb or other vital organs. 

Though you may not have prepared yourself for motherhood, I suggest that you decide from now on to take the responsibility for your pregnancy, and prepare yourself for the arrival of your baby. 

Thankfully, he accepted your pregnancy, and may likely support you during pregnancy. 

I will also suggest that you discuss with him and request for funds to enroll for antenatal care. 

Give him some space and time, and don't try manipulating him to marry you because you are pregnant. This is because it will backfire and you will be at the receiving end of such a hasty decision. 

Focus on your pregnancy and your health, and allow him to decide whether he wish to marry you or not. Pregnancy doesn't guarantee that he will marry you, so even if he doesn't wish to marry you, both of you can still give your child the best in life.
