Hey! It's a Garbage Truck

In the words of Joel Osteen
When you encounter people who are poisoned inside, don't let it rub off on you. If you sink down to their level and you are cold and rude back to them, you've allowed them to contaminate you. Rise above that. Be a part of the solution, not the problem. If someone is rude to you, just bless them, smile, and keep moving. If they have everything nasty to say about you, that's because you are greater. Never come down to their level; keep moving higher.

When you allow what someone says to upset you,you are allowing that person to control you. When you say,"you make me mad," what you are really doing is admitting that you are giving away your power. As long as the person knows they can push this button this way, and they can make that remark and you will get upset, and they know if they go outside you will go inside;you are giving them exactly what they want. When people make certain comments ,directly or indirectly, against your person, just turn them to jokes even when it's clear the person is trying to get at you. If you don't want to turn it to a joke, simply delete the comment without response.

People have a right to
say what they want, to do what they want, as long as its legal. And we have a right to not be offended. We have a right to overlook it. Don't let anyone get on your nerves. If someone walks into a room and we grow tense, it's because we are putting too much importance on what that person thinks about us.

What a person says about you does not define who you are. Your ex girlfriend or wife can call you devil, your ex boyfriend or husband can tell the world how much of a whore you are, your former boss tells whosoever that cares to listen how much you stole from him, your mother-in-law has nicknamed you "witch" because you have not given her son a child...it doesn't matter.

Time has a way of saying who exactly we are, according to my people, the Igbos, "Onu kwuru njo ga ekwu nma" (the same mouth that spoke ill of you shall speak good of you). His or her opinion of you does not determine your self-worth. Let that bounce off you like water off a duck's back. This person has every right to have an opinion, and you have every right to ignore it.

Never stoop so low that you start trading words with him or her; only cheap and idle folks do. I don't know about you, but I enjoy giving talkers some tough homework while I go on doing exploit. And don't forget; only those lesser than you, only those you are greater than, talk against you. Back biters are always behind.
You don't have to respond to every critic. You don't have to prove yourself to them. Just stay on the high road and let God fight your battles for you. Some who will cross your path simply don't want peace with and for you. No matter what you say or do, they will not be won over. Even if you were to change, they would still find some reasons to be critical. You have to accept the fact that no matter what you do, some people will never be at peace with you. Like our own Dame, they laugh at your use of English; they will still term you arrogant if you speak like Taiwo Ajayi-Lycette.

One thing you should know is that a lot of people you meet on the road, in the office, eatery, market, and on social media, are not at peace with themselves and so you would be lying to yourself if you think they should give you peace. They cant see themselves getting out of the pit of life and so they won't ever understand why you are out and glowing. Just pity them.

Is your boss the type that is ever angry and bitter? Be sure you are not the cause and then pray for him or her. Your sister-in-law could be fighting you because she is not married and that leaves her bitter; pray for her to be married. Your colleague or friend hates you because she cant figure out why every man is interested in you with none interested in her. Refer her to a man if you can. That your neighbour hates you because she knows you are age mates and there you are happy with grown children while she is yet to have one; ignore and pray for her. That security man insulted you at the gate, please don't tell his boss who is your friend; he has issues within and you can help him out of it simply by being calm with a smile. You can also give to him on your way out. Be an extension of God's hand of grace.

Do you remember the law of the garbage truck by David Pollay? Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they look for a place to dump it. And if you let them, they 'll dump it on you. So when someone wants to dump on you, don't take it personal. It doesn't have anything to do with you. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Believe me,you'll be happier.

Successful people don't allow garbage trucks to unload on them. If somebody dumps a load on you, don't be upset. If you make that mistake, you will end up carrying their loads around and eventually you will dump them on somebody. Keep your lid on. We can't stop people from dumping their garbage, but by keeping our lids on, we can tell them to recycle instead.

You have a great destiny, never allow any garbage in! And if you are moving about full off garbage, turn to the Lord, recreate your thoughts. He is the porter, He moulded you and knows exactly where to open for the whole garbage to be poured away. You can be happy again; you can live a joyful life again.
Shout hallelujah anyhow!
