What Are the Risks in Getting Married to an Osu?

Good day Ma, kudos on the good works you are doing in the lives of people.
Please there is an issue which I need you and your fans to help me with.
My guy proposed to me recently, but he told me he is an 'osu'. He base in lagos while his parents lives at the villa.
I have asked him what the consequences of marrying an osu are, and he said there was none he was aware of.
Please I need your advice and that of those who know about this if there is any risk involved in marrying an osu.
Thanks so much.

Osu (Outcast) means that a particular individual or family has been forfeited to the gods basically something offensive and unpleasant to the community or the society.
When an individual is declared an Osu, he cannot have anything to do with those who are not Osu because according to their perception, such a person is not spiritual fit to mix with the society or be married to non Osu individuals.
It could be as a result of  some strange reasons like being born as sicklers, having some birth characteristics like coming out with leg or hand instead of the head or any other reasons which some elders deems fit.
However, this was practised due to what they perceived as a taboo the society and a way to cleanse the society from anything they feel may not be good for the community or society.
If for example a lady or man was made an Osu or an outcast because he or she was very sick when he or she was born, do you think that that was a good reason to make an individual an outcast?
If some individuals feel that a particular child will bring badluck to society or community, do you think that such is genuine enough to excommunicate an individual from the rest of the world?
These are some of the culture which was practised due to what they felt was good for the society without understanding of the spiritual and psychological implications of such.
If any man be in Christ Jesus, and has genuinely surrendered his life to God, do you think such a man has any reason not to live and do what the rest of the society is doing?
If a lady was made an Osu because she was very sick after delivery, can such be said to be in the interest of the society or the individual?
Personally I don't believe that any individual has the capacity label another individual an outcast if such a person is not God or His son Jesus Christ.
But let your heart guide your thoughts and understanding of this and what you feel is best for you at this moment of your life.

  1. OSU caste is a primiive practice that has place in the modern time. In fact it is of no consequence to marry anyone so tagged. Those who continue to brag about not being one but have nothing good to offer their society ought to branded osu. I refuse to live in the past and had I met one with the character of my wife when I was searching I could have married her and waited for hell to turn loose.

  3. My dear sometimes we have to step back a step. Take a look at the whole picture. Based on what we Know and understand we try to make the best choice. ultimately the decision is up to you..

  4. Hmmmmm ! Is rather unfortunate! Where I come from, free born re not suppose to be associated with the osu. Doing so will cost the free born a lot. U will be disassociated from friends and family, no free born would want to ve anything to do with u. As much as am not an advocate for this osu thingy, I wouldn't wish to see me @cross roads cos the consequences re numerous. And to consider the shame, and pains i'l bring to my immediate family alone would keep m back from venturin on such futile mission.

  6. If the Osu thing was actually insignificant, i don't think he would have mentioned it to you....For the fact that he identified himself as an Osu, it simply means that he is bounded by the laws of the Outcasts and hence, going into nuptial ties with him automatically signifies that you're into the system...
Now, it's not all about saying you're a Christian which makes you free from it when joined with your man because even the bible recognizes Ceasar and even if you choose not to believe in the Osu system, your fiance believes he is...
Don't go about proclaiming Jesus Christ thereby ignoring what you should carefully look into...The Osu system has strong spiritual ties associated with it...You need to look into this issue both spiritually and physically before you make a choice...Hear what your spiritual leaders have to say about this...Even if you don't believe in it, make sure your fiance denounces it before you commit your self through marriage...It takes two to agree...don't fight alone...The implication could still take effect through your husband...
They say Love conquers all but it's not always true...You can choose to ignore the matter due to love but be ready to face the consequences however it comes...please, don't be in a hurry...a lot needs to be done by both you and your man...

  7. 2 Corinthians 5 vs5 to 21(GNT)
5 God is the one who has prepared us for this change, and he gave us his Spirit as the guarantee of all that he has in store for us. 6 So we are always full of courage. We know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord's home. 7 For our life is a matter of faith, not of sight. 8 We are full of courage and would much prefer to leave our home in the body and be at home with the Lord. 9 More than anything else, however, we want to please him, whether in our home here or there. 10 For all of us must appear before Christ, to be judged by him. We will each receive what we deserve, according to everything we have done, good or bad, in our bodily life. 11 We know what it means to fear the Lord, and so we try to persuade others. God knows us completely, and I hope that in your hearts you know me as well. 12 We are not trying again to recommend ourselves to you; rather, we are trying to give you a good reason to be proud of us, so that you will be able to answer those who boast about people's appearance and not about their character. 13 Are we really insane? It is for God's sake. Or are we sane? Then it is for your sake. 14 We are ruled by the love of Christ, now that we recognize that one man died for everyone, which means that they all share in his death. 15 He died for all, so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but only for him who died and was raised to life for their sake. 16 No longer, then, do we judge anyone by human standards. Even if at one time we judged Christ according to human standards, we no longer do so. 17 Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come. 18 All this is done by God, who through Christ changed us from enemies into his friends and gave us the task of making others his friends also. 19 Our message is that God was making all human beings his friends through Christ. God did not keep an account of their sins, and he has given us the message which tells how he makes them his friends. 20 Here we are, then, speaking for Christ, as though God himself were making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ's behalf: let God change you from enemies into his friends! 21 Christ was without sin, but for our sake God made him share our sin in order that in union with him we might share the righteousness of God. PEOPLE ARE DESTROYED FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE. EVERYTHING THAT GOD MADE IS GOOD BEFORE HIM SO, WHO IS HE THAT JUDGES? GOD RULES.
