The Evil of Religion

Aside the fact that some parents have failed to raise children with moral values, I feel that one of the problems of Africa is this whole 'get rich quick' preaching by prosperity pastors.

When a preacher gets his members to believe that they can just sit at home doing nothing or leave their job to go and sit in church on a Monday morning, there is is something wrong. When they give their members reasons to sit in church all day and night instead of reading for the exam coming up the following morning. It can only happen in Africa and not in nations where there is accountability and people work for their money. Faith without works is dead!

When we have preachers moving all over town in convoy, why won't we have uncountable numbers of churches? As we say it in Nigeria, "no be only you sabi make money". That is why your assistant pastors will always take a walk to start their own ministries because you are eating alone and you have shown them that there is money when one becomes a GO.

 There are churches
whose junior pastors don't leave simply because the general overseer takes good care of them.  But when your junior pastor watches you buy all the properties in town and move around in convoy when he can't even afford to pay his children's school fees, what do you expect? The guy is being made to believe that being a GO is a very legal way to defraud people without the government coming after you.

When you go on with too much prosperity message; when you celebrate fraudulent people and pause during service just to welcome a politician who is a well known cultist and criminal,  your congregation is indirectly being wired to believe that they are free to make the money anyhow.

Preach more of salvation and the power of focus and hard-work.  Stop creating more problems for Africa. Stop using graduates as drivers and stewards in your church without paying them. The God you claim to serve hates injustice. Stop using people all in the name of daddy and mummy. You must pay for their time.

Stop leading your junior pastors into the sin of covetousness (a good number of you are guilty anyway) thereby creating more havoc for our continent. We are already getting chocked with the number of churches springing up everyday. We are tired of having churches in residential estates. We are tired of having eight churches in one building with their signboards littering the whole place. Our God is not one of Confusion; He loves order. The annoying thing is that these churches are springing up not because they want to preach the gospel; they just want the kind of convoy and police escort GO uses.

And for you gullible Africans who believe everything you hear, think twice. Some have lost their lives because pastor told them not to go to hospital for treatment but to keep praying for healing. Are you aware that your pastor and his entire family do their own medical check up abroad? He tells you to sow your seeds in heaven alone and so you keep giving him what God has given you to feed your children.  Is he doing the same when he has acquired private jets and houses in every country?

You have suddenly lost touch with reality that you can no longer engage in a meaningful discussion with your neighbours and colleagues all because you have been brainwashed by religion. If your pastor is earthly useless like you, he won't be standing on that pulpit using the name of God to defraud you neither will he be acquiring every property in town.

A friend was using his pastor as an example to other pastors just because someone gave him a Bentley which he said he was giving back to the church. And I asked him, who owns the ministry? Who is the sole signatory to the account? In whose name was the church property bought? If it was bought in the name of the church, who are the trustees? The trustee members are his wife, first son, first daughter, sister-in-law, and possibly his unborn child. That was when my friend had a rethink.

Give to the work of God just because you want to give. Give with your head intact and never out of coercion. Give for the right reasons and never because someone says God said you should give him a million dollars. Never allow anyone use the name of God to defraud you. They can call your name including the name of your great grandfather; they can show you where he was buried; they can invoke a dead cow and dig it up to tell you that's your problem. Don't get carried away, a good number of them practice necromancy. Don't get carried away by the miracles (magic) they do. Remember that Simon the Sorcerer existed.

I have heard a big time GO preach that no good Christian will ever run a hotel business; I agree, but where does he put up when he travels to Europe and other places? Even during his church programs, his guest speakers are kept in hotels like Sheraton. They tell you not to be afraid as you are hidden under the shadow of the Almighty. You believe them and so no security in your home while the same pastor goes about with MOPOL escort. Don't you think it's time for you to start using your head rightly?

Africans, stop taking in everything just because it came from the pulpit. God wasn't foolish when He created you with the brain. You also have your scriptures to cross check whatever you are being fed. But I don't expect you to consult the Bible because you swallow everything from the pulpit hook, line, and sinker. Open your heart while studying the word of God. Become like the Berean Christians who often went home to their scriptures after services to be sure the truth was spoken.

Stop asking God to do those things He has created you to do for yourself.

  1. It's appalling, my sister. The menace of christianity is worse than that of Boko Haram. People are bound in bondage because of a religion created by themselves thinking its of God because it has Christ as its root word. Come to think of it, if christianity is of God why are they so divided and confused in practices? You have cited that God is not the author of confusion, that's very true. As a matter of truth, God is not looking for christians but children. He is not yearning for religion but relationship. Nowadays, people are related on the basis of church-membership. They start conversation with, "which church do you attend"? Is that not hypocrisy? I called on everyone to see Jesus Christ as God's gift to the world. God never gave us a church but Jesus. Read it here: "
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God"(JOHN 3:16-18 KJV). A church was meant to be a place where those who have accepted Jesus fellowship in teaching, prayers, communion, willingly catering for the needs of those who have devoted themselves for the gospel and poor members. But what do we have today? ENTERPRISES. My sister, let me rest. I am totally disappointed in "christianity". You have done you bid. Well done!
